Telework in public sector: a proposal

I would like to inform that FORMEZ, the Italian National Agency for public managers' education and training (www.formez.it), as part of the Public Function Dept. of the Presidency of the Council, is leading the project "A Changing Public Work".  The general purpose is to favour introduction of a new flexible organisational culture, based on telework, e-work and, in a wider sense, all forms of 'multilocational i.c.t. based work' in local public administrations of the objective 3 Regions (Northern and Central Italy). Some specific Italian cases are already located in the general databank "Buoni esempi" (Best Practices), grouping many interesting cases of public administrations re-organisation (www.buoniesempi.it).

In the project workplan, a particular attention is paid to interaction with European public administrations using the above mentioned new flexible forms of work organisation.

The objectives of these international interactions are:

1) To monitor existing cases and to analyse possible comparison on administrations typologies, organisational context, types of telework and e-work, socio-organisational impact, etc., favouring a direct relation among administrations (Dec. 2003-June 2004);

2) Participation to the 'Experimental Laboratory' focused on the creation of a network as "Community of Practice" on telework, e-work and all forms of multilocational i.c.t. based work in public administrations, harmonised with already existing European policy, guidelines, agreements on this field (February-June 2004);

3) Identification of European Programmes and resources for funding a future European Project proposal, mainly in the public managers' educational field, as a sort of spin-off from all previous common activities.
